The ongoing global pandemic is revealing a lot of lapses in the world system particularly in Nigeria, where the vast majority are wallowing in poverty while the minority are somehow oblivious to the realities of the marginalized and disadvantaged. People have always been hungry in Nigeria but the total lockdown brought it to the limelight in such a way that it can’t be ignored.

THE SILVER-LINING
This crisis has particularly helped our teams to identify and locate more communities who are in desperate need for healthcare interventions and social welfare packages. Right now however , we are focusing on the very basic needs right now which is good for people to stay alive while also staying at home. Our focus was in Ogun state this week. We visited three new communities of vulnerable and underserved families hiding in plain sight part of whom are Hausa group of nursing mothers and girls living in shacks and uncompleted buildings in Arigbede community in Ogun state. We also shared food items in Ofada and Ashimolowo communities also situated in Ogun state. We provided them with basic staple food stuffs such as rice, beans and garri.

We targeted nursing mothers and pregnant women and extended our outreach to old widows as well. In all, we were able to reach forty seven households/families from the donations we received in the past week.

OUR RESOLUTION AND PLEA
We have decided to keep going in search and focus on more vulnerable and marginalized communities in Lagos State this new week. We appreciate your continuous support and donations and we are asking for more contributions to reach more families in this uncertain and unprecedented times.
